1. HIV is a virus which reduces people's resistance to illness and can cause AIDS. HIV is an abbreviation for `Human Immunodeficiency Virus'. If someone is "HIV positive", they are infected with the HIV virus, and may develop AIDS. If someone is HIV negative, they are not infected with the virus.
2. There appears to be no commonly used Auslan sign for HIV.
